Exploring Latinx culture through stories, humor, and creativity
About Me
Roberto Rizo: Beto
I tell Latinx stories and explore culture and identity through conversations, humor, and creativity. As an immigrant, I am an advocate of multiculturalism and a beliver that we can transcend cultural barriers through communication and compassion.
Today, I am the Northern California Field Representative for U.S. Senator Alex Padilla. In this role, I oversee government relations strategy for half of California's geographic area. I am responsible for developing key relationships and fostering collaboration across all levels of government, business, community groups, and the general public.
Most recently, at the CA Secretary of State I managed outreach campaigns for large-scale programs aimed to engage 10 million people in different target markets, including Latinx, Black, Asian and other underrepresented communities. On any given day, I would plan and host town-halls, virtual conferences, and press events. In my role, I also administered $4 million in grant funding, managed website analytics and produced content for the agency.
As a Creator
I produce and host ¿Qué te tomas? Podcast - with 10k+ downloads, this show was created to offer a place to share latinx immigrant and first-gen stories of success, growth, and realization. We also explore the idea of identity in an effort to discover a deeper love for our cultures, our background, and ourselves.
I am a stand-up comedian performing in Northern CA. My comedy revolves around my experience as a immigrant latino living in the US. You can find some of my bits on my socials and dates to the comedy show I produce "Spanglish Laughs."
Amateur Actor--in 2023 I performed as Carlino in the show "Wait Until Dark" with the Sacramento Theater Company.
